So what is flowers of Hatch?

First and foremost it is a beautiful place to visit. Secondly we have planted some flowers, cottage garden types mostly, for you to pick if you want. We may or may not be around but there is an honesty box and in these cashless days also BACS details. We don’t want to be prescriptive on price but we suggest £5 for a large handful (all you can get your hands around). Or half of that for half as much etc. If things are getting to the end of the season and the quality is dropping off – pay less…

See the ‘find us‘ page for maps and directions to get to us

See the ‘about us‘ page for tips on picking and to find out about the flowers and how we grow them.

Please remember: it is a field! The ground is rough and uneven in places, dress as you would for a country walk in whatever the prevailing weather. All nanny-ish warnings about heat, UV etc apply

The main season runs from June to September but sometimes is earlier and some flowers (like Clary Sage) go on and on. Check in here for updates. We say 9am until 6pm for opening times but again we are not too fussed. Picking in the dark may be risky

Availability and Updates

Picking now (9th August 2025):

  • Sweet peas – last few short stemmed mostly
  • Statice – loads
  • Scabious – lots
  • Clary sage – a bit small but OK
  • Snapdragon (Antirrhinum) – perfect still
  • Zinnia – plenty
  • Rudbeckia – plenty
  • Cosmos – plenty
  • Also eucalyptus and willow for foliage…

Situation as of 9th Augist 2025:

The sweet-peas look scruffy but are still throwing a few worthwhile flowers. We’ve dead-headed everything else after returning from a holiday in Devon. The Zinnia look particularly wonderful at present and if you like sunflower yellow, try the vibrant rudbekia – see below with statice and sweet pea (we are planning to grow sunflowers next year)

Situation as of 25th July 2025:

At last some rain, and everything is looking good. Shasta daisy are pretty much over and there are only a few sweet peas – but plenty of everything else! See below, antirrhinum, echinops, zinnia, sweetpea, cosmos. Yours for a fiver – but you could take more if you wanted!

Situation as of 16th July 2025:

Still dry. Sweet peas are short stemmed, BUT!! everything else is coming good. Here is a bunch picked on the 14th. Antirrhinum, Cosmos, Echinops, Rudbeckia, Statice.

Situation as of 7th July 2025:

Still too hot and dry (for us) and another week in prospect. The sweet pea stems have got a little short but please pick them with a bit of leaf and tendril if you want. Shasta daisies are looking good as are the globe thistle

Situation as of 28th June 2025:

The hot dry weather is a hassle and no mistake. We are watering and deadheading as much as we can, but the plants are still in a hurry and the season may be shorter than normal
